This lecture will focus on a theme which is important for our future both in
Germany and Britain and indeed in Europe as a whole: What are the reforms
in our educational system necessary to improve the skills of its workforce,
thus preparing our children and young adults to compete in an increasingly
globalised and knowledge-based economy?
Ryan Shorthouse, the Director of the independent think tank „Bright Blue“, will
outline the reforms the UK Government are undertaking in every stage of the
education system – from childcare to universities – and what more needs to be
done to ensure people from all social backgrounds can thrive in the modern
labour market.

commentator, who regularly appears on national TV and radio, He provides frequent
analysis for national newspapers and magazines and authored ten research papers
